It’s a rating system of a civilization’s level of technology…Wikipedia explains it well:

The Kardashev scale is a method of measuring a civilization’s level of technological advancement based on the amount of energy they are able to use. The measure was proposed by Soviet astronomer Nikolai Kardashev in 1964. The scale has three designated categories:

A Type I civilization, also called a planetary civilization—can use and store all of the energy available on its planet.

A Type II civilization, also called a stellar civilization—can use and control energy at the scale of its planetary system.

A Type III civilization, also called a galactic civilization—can control energy at the scale of its entire host galaxy.

We are currently less than a Type 1 civilization – it has been said that we could progress to a Type 1 civilization in 100 – 200 years. What if humanity created a reality where money doesn’t get in the way of everyone’s right to safe housing, clean water, healthy food, quality education, and full health care – and made the process of ensuring the basic standard of living fun and rewarding? Human minds are universes, if we can get more people operating at the top of Maslow’s Hierarchy our positive development will grow exponentially. It could be someone we least expect to have an idea that will greatly improve our species chances of long term survival, or make our world a much better place. If people didn’t have to worry about their immediate survival all the time – spending lots of time doing things they don’t like to do to keep food on the table and a roof over their head – they would have more time for higher thinking. It’s good to have options. Our not for profit aims to be a buffer between people and the cold hard world of capitalism, a bubble within a bubble where more humans can become their potential. https://amzn.to/3QjzVfs
